Speckled Trout Fishing

We have five stocked lakes with Speckled Trout in the area. Speckled Trout are well known for being the best tasting fish of the Trout Family as their meat is a dark red and very lean with no fishy taste.

Speckled Trout are easier to catch in the spring as they are right on the surface and can be taken by casting Cleos or other small spoons. You can also troll along the shore with small floating Rapala, Junior Thunderstick or small #0 to #2 Mepps, Panther Martin or Blue Fox Spinner.

Later in the summer, the Specks go deeper, but are also concetrated in the deeper holes and can be taken by trolling with a Light Tackle 3-Way Swivel Rig.

The Specks average around 2 to 5 pounds with an occasional 8-pound trout being caught.

These lakes can be accessed by truck and range from 1 to 6 miles from the Lodge. The lakes are open all year long.
