Pickerel Fishing
We have three area lakes, which have good Pickerel fishing. These lakes are remote and can be difficult to access. As a result, they receive very little fishing pressure and are well worth the extra effort to get into.
An ATV is ideal for getting into any of these great Pickerel fishing lakes. One of these lakes can be accessed by truck.
The Pickerel are most active in the morning and evening with lots of 22-inch plus fish to be taken. There are many smaller good eating sizes available in these lakes, which makes for a great shore lunch. Our Pickerel produce nice white and firm fillets and they cook up fluffy and light.
3/8-oz to 1/4-oz jigs with white, black, yellow or transparent green twistertails work best. A little peace of worm or salted minnows on the jigs can also increase the amount of strikes. Trolling along the shore or by shoals with a small Original Floating Rapala or Junior Thunderstick in blue, silver or fire-tiger also works great. When trolling late in the evening your chances of catching a trophy Pickerel are greatly increased.
