Northern Pike Fishing

The Lodge is located on the shores of Appelo Lake, which is one of the better Northern Pike lakes in the area. Many guests have successfully fished from our dock and caught Pike. Generally, the Pike are more concentrated in the weedy bays or off rocky points where they ambush Walleyes.

There are about five different Pike Lakes in the area, which have good Pike fishing. These Pike lakes can be reached by truck but their location is not widely known. As a result, they do not receive any fishing pressure thus our guests can enjoy a really good day of Pike fishing. The Pike are of all different sizes ranging from good eating sizes to big lunkers.

For the adventurous at heart, we have an ATV trail leading to a "fly-in" Pike Lake, which is located approximately 5 miles from the lodge. It's always a bonus to be able to fish a fly-in caliber lake without the cost of flying.

Pike hit just about any lure. DareDevils, Spooks, Rapalas, Jitter Bugs and ever Walleye jigs catch Pike. They generally go after the brighter colors like red, yellow and fire-tiger. Just make sure you have plenty of steel leaders.
