Lake Trout Fishing

Meteor Lake is a popular Lake Trout fishing spot because there is a good forage base, which produces lots of Lake Trout of many sizes. This is a natural lake with an indigenous reproducing Lake Trout population. The average size trout is about 5 pounds, which is much bigger then most inland lakes.

This lake is about 8 miles from the Lodge and access to it will require a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Two other Lake Trout lakes are closer to the Lodge and accessible by truck.

Lake Trout are easier to catch in the spring as they are right on the surface and can be taken by casting Cleos or other small spoons. You can also troll along the shore with small floating Rapala, Junior Thunderstick or small #1 to #3 Mepps, Panther Martin or Blue Fox Spinner.

Later in the summer, the Lakers go deeper, but are also concetrated in the deeper holes and can be taken by trolling with a Light Tackle 3-Way Swivel Rig.
