Sports Fishing on Appelo Lake

Ontario Walleye Fishing
We have three area lakes, which have good Walleye fishing. These lakes are remote and can be difficult to access. As a result, they receive very little fishing pressure and are well worth the extra effort to get into.

Northern Pike Fishing
There are about five different Pike Lakes in the area, which have good Pike fishing. These Pike lakes can be reached by truck but their location is not widely known. As a result, they do not receive any fishing pressure thus our guests can enjoy a really good day of Pike fishing. The Pike are of all different sizes ranging from good eating sizes to big lunkers.

Ontario Brook Trout Fishing
We have five stocked lakes with Brook Trout in the area. Brook Trout are well known for being the best tasting fish of the Trout Family as their meat is a dark red and very lean with no fishy taste.

Ontario Lake Trout Fishing
Meteor Lake is a popular Lake Trout fishing spot because there is a good forage base, which produces lots of Lake Trout of many sizes. This is a natural lake with an indigenous reproducing Lake Trout population. The average size trout is about 5 pounds, which is much bigger then most inland lakes.

Aurora Trout Fishing
The World Record Aurora Trout was taken out of Carol Lake in 2002. The lake has been closed since then and stocking has continued every year. The lake will open August 1, 2008 - then close again for 3 years.

We have five stocked lakes with Speckled Trout in the area. Speckled Trout are well known for being the best tasting fish of the Trout Family as their meat is a dark red and very lean with no fishy taste.

Ontario Smallmouth Bass Fishing
The Smallmouth Bass fishing in Shoo-Fly Lake is excellent. The lake is within walking distance of the lodge and easy to access. Shoo-Fly Lake is a typical Canadian Shield Lake with a rocky shoreline and rocky shoals. Lots of rocks along with a good forage base makes Shoo-Fly Lake the perfect habitat for Smallmouth Bass to grow big.
